CD Update and Juke Joint Festival Ramblings

Well, the new CD, "Acoustic Alley Blues", was recorded last week and mixed and mastered yesterday. All that's left now is the artwork and duplication, so we're still shooting for late May. I really, really like this CD, I hope you will, too. Danny Ramsey at Little Hollywood Studio did a fantastic job producing and engineering it. And the additional vocals of Micol Davis on two songs is a heaven-send. Bless you both. It's always good to leave it in the hands of the pros! The Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale, MS was a huge success. The weather was great, the crowds were there, and there was more downhome blues than you could imagine! Besides the fact that I got to play two sets on Saturday (Cat Head Back Porch Stage & Yazoo Street Stage), I had a chance to hear some of my favorite North Mississippi artists. But, with anywhere from 4 to 6 stages going on at one time, it was hard to catch everybody. Local Nashville buds Elam McKnight and Keith Carter knocked 'em out at Ground Zero Blues Club, while everywhere that North MS favorite Jimbo Mathus played, the crowds were sure to follow. If you didn't get a chance to make it this year, try to make plans for next year's fest. It'll be worth your while! I'll have some photos from the festival on the website in a week or two. Special thanks to Roger Stolle, Bill Talbot, and the countless others who help make this year's Juke Joint Festival a success!
